I know that a commissions post sounds strange, considering that I only post art sporadically, but I want to start drawing and doing graphics again, and the best way to do that is by committing to it. Also, money is good.

clex_monkie89: Close-cropped picture of Sam and Dean Winchester sitting far closer than normal people. (My "People Skills" Are "Rusty")
We moved! Still in AZ, but now in Glendale. I have a room! We have a pool! I also have a horrific sunburn. I just started taking Zoloft a few weeks ago (holy shit, it's amazing how much that has helped me) and did not realize photosensitivity was a side effect, so I went swimming for two hours on Sunday and today is the first day I've been able to wear a shirt since without cringing.

My forehead, nose, cheeks, and from the elbows up was all lobster red and is currently peeling. And, JFC, the amount of times I have slammed my arms into the doorways since getting this burn is unbelievable. White as I am (and I am PALE lately) I have never burned from less than around 12 hours in a pool before. So I totally thought two would be fine, and I was only a tiny bit pink near my nose when I got out. Then three hours later I was a lobster.

We also have cable now (Cox) instead of satellite and every single thing I watch is now on three hours later because AZ sucks.

I still have no job. I have insurance, though? And unemployment. I kind of got fired at a great time, though, because I've been able to help take care of Ma and go to her doctor's appointments with her, and even though I worked at home before I couldn't go to appointments except for when she could get them scheduled on Wednesdays.

I started a mainline of The West Wing, and I'm up to 2.16 so far. I loooooooooooooove it. So, in about ten years I'll probably watch The Social Netowkr finally too.

I have actually gotten, like. Really into makeup. Really really. I know, lose your job and then find something expensive to like, right? But I totally have learned how to pinch pennies and the magics of things like online surveys and ebates (holy shit, if you shop online you need this place, it is totally legit and I've made $20 from shopping). Also, not hesitating to return anything that doesn't work for me. Doesn't matter if it's .99 or $60, if I don't love it, I take it back.

Also, I made a giant OCD spreadsheet that is an itemized inventory of everything makeup that I own. Because, hi, me.

Fandom-wise, I am totally still in Supernatural (though, holy shit, S9, what. Just what.), I watch Teen Wolf (as Tumblr says: Jeff Fucking Davis is a gift I'd like to return), and I live on Twitter more than anything else.

And now, a meme!

10 (fandom) Facts About Me
Just list 10 facts about fandom/ships/characters/kinks/headcanons whatever you like!

1. I joined fandom when I was 12. I'm 28 now, so I have spent more than half my life (16 years) in fandom.

2. The first ep of Teen Wolf I watched live was the S2 finale, and the first ep of SPN I watched live was Route 66.

3. I skim the sex in fic most of the time. Sometimes I'll read it, but for the most part once it starts I skim and pick up when it's over. This is probably a big part of why I get annoyed at fics where the ending is that the two characters have sex. I feel short-changed.

4. I cannot and will not read fic with drug use. I can't. I hate when there is random pot in a scene in a fic and that usually makes me make Ugh faces at it. The last time I said something like this I got defriended y a lot of people, but right now I don't care. It doesn't trigger me in the way you think of when people say "trigger" but it comes awfully close.

5. I love mpreg. I do. IDEK what it is. I used to kind of like it, and then I like it in a weird shameful way (mostly because LBR, good mpreg is hard to find) but when the mpreg is good it is SO GOOD and I am totally fine with you guys judging me.

6. I also love easter eggs in RPF. I love reading J2 and spotting one-off and background characters. I play that "MATT BOMER! FBDKS IT'S JASON MOMOA!!!" game where I flail all over like when I catch Aldis in a rerun of Bones.

7. Parallel AUs, too. Where you change the main setting but you can still see it poking through? GIVE THEM TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE.

8. I'll go through phases where I don't want to read anything but MCU Avengers genfic or Tim/Kon or something else weirdly specific that isn't a primary fandom of mine.

9. 90-95% of the shirts I own are fannish tees. One is Sherlock, one is Teen Wolf, and basically everything else is Supernatural or DC.

10. I love bottom!Sam like air and I will never stop being sad that fandom by and large prefer bottom!Dean and incredibly toppy top!Sam.

HI THAR. LONG TIME NO SPEAK. Here's what you missed: I got new glasses! And lost 17.6 pounds since February 13th of last year. Technically, I lost way more than that at one point, but then had a really bad downswing, mood-wise in October and it decided to stay until basically January. But I'm starting new again! I'm marking down all my food I eat and making a conscious effort not to eat when I'm bored or not actually hungry. I am super looking forward to being able to buy clothes without crying. I think I did that once. It was nice.

I work for a satellite company now! And have since May! (JFC, really? It's been that log?) I am tech support, and if you want to see me rant about how much I hate people you can follow me on Twitter, because I fucking hate people. There is a reason I.T. people are always angry and annoyed in TV/movies. IT'S BECAUSE OF PEOPLE WHO CALL ME FOR HELP, AND THEN TELL ME I'M WRONG. BITCH, WHICH ONE OF US GETS PAID TO DO THIS SHIT AND WHICH ONE ADMITTED DEFEAT AND CALLED FOR HELP?

Also, Supernatural is back, and has been for a while, and I still LOVE IT. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but it's mine and I want to dress it in frilly clothes and make it have sex with it's brother. Or something. )

While we're talking about me not posting shit ever: how the fuck did I only write two fics last year? )

BUT! That brings me to my next point! I'm aiming for at least one posted fic every month this year. One done, so far! I might even have two this month, possibly.

Also, [ profile] spn_j2_bigbang! I signed up for it again, and I have a fic idea already (that will hopefully stick), and an awesome title possibly, and I might actually attempt to write the worst summary possible this year, because that's what I get when I try to write a good one, so if I aim specifically for bad I might stumble into perfection. There will be a Flocked post about this after this one, because, duh.

In addition to living on Twitter, I also live on Tumblr now, despite fucking HATING it. And then I had a rant about Teen Wolf, which I like for some reason. )

ALSO! THERE WAS [ profile] wincon! WIIIIIIIIINCOOOOOOOOOON! IT WAS AWESOME, AND I LOVED IT, AND I AM NOW ONE OF THE CO-CHAIRS OF PROGRAMMING! GO SUBMIT A PANEL, YOU GUYS! This year we're in VEGAS and it's going to be so fucking amazing I don't even know where to start. Actually, it's so fucking awesome that I will make a separate flailing post about it later.

Also, in my absence I have done ALL THE ART EVER. It was not easy, and the Mona Lisa was cranky. I have become [ profile] unavoidedcrisis's Dedicated Pinch-Hitter for her eleventy-five Big Bangs she runs, and have four arts I'm doing for [ profile] apocalypsebang alone. I'm very excited, and also very worried, because, obviously. Ugh, I am stressing myself out just thinking about it right now, even though there's no reason to. On the plus side, each of the arts and the steps in the process are gonna average out to another level or two in GetYeDone. What, you ask, is GetYeDone? I AM SO HAPPY TO TELL YOU!

This site is basically the best thing ever. It's a To Do List site that lets you level up and earn EXP, which, man, is fucking awesome if you're as competitive as I am. The site itself is still brand new, and the party system is still under development, but you guys should all go join, add me over there, and then comment here with your name so I can add back when the parties go live. I'm Clex the Indecisive over there, shockingly.

In case anyone was wondering, I spent the entire Superbowl writing this, am counting it as a Boss Fight because I have put this off for literally an entire month, and am happy that the Ravens won.

So many TV shows! I'm in training for my job right now, but once I start my actual shift it will be Wednesday-Sunday from noon to 9pm my time (1500-0000 EST), and primetime here in Arizona starts at 7pm. So, basically, I might actually look at this again so I remember what shows I have to record and download, because I won't be able to watch virtually anything live.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

You may have seen this image on the internet today:

And you've probably read about SOPA and PIPA on Twitter and Facebook and tumblr and websites like reddit and boingboing and google and Wikipedia.

But there's a few issues that are of particular concern to those with a fannish bent. touches on some of them from a parody perspective, but basically, the "Stop Internet Piracy Act" (and PIPA as well) are written in such a way that they give any owner of any copyright, trademark right, right of publicity or other intellectual property rights the ability to shut down a site's ability to accept donations made via credit card companies, PayPal or Amazon, or bar a site from hosting Google or Groupon ads or being part of the WBShop or Amazon Affiliate programs just because they think that one icon, one User Profile, one piece of fanart, one fanvid or one fanfic infringes on their content - regardless of whether that story, icon, vid or art is transformative, or created pursuant to fair use.

"Fair use is a lawful use of copyright." That's what the Northern District of California said in Lenz v. Universal Music back in 2008. So much of what we do on fansites - from the discussions and reviews to art and fic and vids we host and link to - is fair use, but there's no Fair Use provision in SOPA.

"Think about this for a second: think how many bogus DMCA takedown notices are sent by copyright holders to take down content they don't like," writes TechDirt's Mike Masnick. "With this new bill, should it become law, those same copyright holders will be able to cut off advertising and payment processing to such sites. Without court review."

Donations are vital to fansites; if they can't accept financial support from users and visitors, many will not be able to keep the site online; it costs between $20 and $1000 per month for servers at fansites of various sizes. Ads are vital to other sites - Googleads, the BlogHer network, store associateships, etc.

If SOPA passes, and one copyright-holder who doesn't agree with the law of Fair Use complains to PayPal or Google or Amazon, it is likely that at least some sites will lose the ability to accept donations from users like you, and many will be unable to use ad revenue to keep the sites online.

And fandom-run sites are just a small portion of the internet, in the grand scheme of things. YouTube hosts fanvids, parodies and reviews, Tumblr and LiveJournal host every type of content that can be created, and Google links to everything. One person can choose to abuse the provisions of SOPA and damage each of those sites for everyone - or the sites themselves may curtail certain services, or limit what they allow people to share, discuss and distribute.

That's not an Internet that any of us would recognize.

The worst part of SOPA and PIPA is that the worst case scenarios are extremely likely, plausible and conceivable.

The good news is, the White House has threatened a veto of the bills as they were last week, and the House has put off votes for the immediate future, because we on the internet - we content creators and we content distributors and we content users - have said no, this proposed law is bad and will destroy something we need, use and love.

We can’t sit down now.

If you live in the US, please sign Google's petition, or click here to visit the EFF's website and have an email automatically sent to your representative.

*Not the right word when only one of the six entities testifying before Congress is an Internet-purposed company!

I really like this fic, you guys. I know a lot of people don't like Jess and/or het, and the Sam/Dean is all emotional with no sex directly between them in this, but I am really proud of this.

Website Blocking

The government can order service providers to block websites for infringing links posted by any users.

Risk of Jail for Ordinary Users

It becomes a felony with a potential 5 year sentence to stream a copyrighted work that would cost more than $2,500 to license, even if you are a totally noncommercial user, e.g. singing a pop song on Facebook.

Chaos for the Internet

Thousands of sites that are legal under the DMCA would face new legal threats. People trying to keep the internet more secure wouldn't be able to rely on the integrity of the DNS system.

“We support the bill’s stated goals — providing additional enforcement tools to combat foreign ‘rogue’ websites that are dedicated to copyright infringement or counterfeiting,” the Internet companies wrote in Tuesday’s letter. “Unfortunately, the bills as drafted would expose law-abiding U.S. Internet and technology companies to new uncertain liabilities, private rights of action and technology mandates that would require monitoring of websites.”  The chamber-led coalition in support of the bill includes Walmart, Eli Lilly & Co. and Netflix.

Google and other opponents of the legislation argue that restricting the Internet in the U.S. sets a bad international precedent and that the language defines infringing too broadly.
