Postcards (From Easy Street) - Fic Index.
Title: Postcards (From Easy Street)
Author name:
clex_monkie89
Artist name:
mashimero
Genre: SPN AU
Pairings: Sam/Jess, Sam/Dean (also Dean/OMC, Dean/Cassie, Sam/Zach)
Rating: NC-17
Wordcount: 43,200
Summary: She's his baby brother's new girlfriend.
He's some stranger who knows more about her boyfriend than she does.
Together theyfight crime have sex talk on the phone a lot.
(Oh, and also there's some guy named Sam who keeps getting his ass kicked and has a run-in with some incubi-infected frat guys.)
Notes/Acknowledgments: Betad by
waterofthemoon,
ashley, and
dea_liberty.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this year's Big Bang. I wanted to give Sam DID and explore that. Wee!Sam, Stanford, Series, I wanted to do it all. But then I realized this fic wanted to be written in short bursts, because all of Sam's alters wanted to have their say, and I didn't know if I could keep it up for 20k.
Cue panicking when I realized I had no fucking idea what to do.
And somehow I decided on this. I don't remember exactly how, though I think it's safe to say that the people to blame include;
waterofthemoon,
ashley,
unperfectwolf,
gigglingkat and
stephanometra.
So this is my fic, as it came to be. Sort of. The idea went along the lines of this:
Dean randomly realizes one day that Sam probably wouldn't think to tell someone about his deadly allergy to X. Cue freaking out. Dean sends postcards to Jess, telling her things like that and how to keep Sammy alive, well, and relatively happy. They become letters, which become phone calls.
I'd like to thank all my friends, but
waterofthemoon specifically, because she's the only reason I didn't just give up several times.

Go see more of the stuff
mashimero did here.

So, I've started reading your fic, and so far I really really love it. Well, almost. I feel kinda bad being a bit nit-picky, but because this seems to be such a good fic, I feel that I should share.
OK, so I've got a thing about numbers, and I always start counting when they show up in a fic. And I did the same in your, and I noticed that you made Sam kinda slow when he runs. Well, not slow, slow, but not as fast as he should be. I don't really do miles, but I know km:s. And I've participated in a few 10k runs. And with the speed you've given Sam, he should complete 10k in a little more than 50 min. Now the bad news. This is about the same time that my 55 yo dad runs at. Someone really fast should have a time at 35-40 min (world record at about 30). I think this would put his time for a mile at about 6 min. I think.
I hope that you don't mind my comment, I really DO like the story (Usually doesn't bother pointing out stuff like this if the fic isn't good enough) and now I'm going back to read the rest of it...

Um. I just wanted to say I'M FREAKING LOVING THIS SO MUCH, SO HARD, SO FAR. I'm on Chapter 5 (after 4 hours, Jesus christing computer), AND I WANTED TO STOP AND SAY I LOVE IT, just in case the computer actually dies forever and I disappear and don't get the chance to say how awesome it is.

I'm going to be crying because there isn't more of this universe out there from now on, aren't I?
