Help?
Ugh. Today is a day of spammage for me, I know it.
I'd add this on to my last post but... Fuck it. I'm just lazy.
I have a question about roommates at a four-year college. First question is whether you get a new roommate each semester/year or if you keep the same one the whole time (Assuming neither of you move, ask to be moved or drop out).
Next question is about summer at four year college that houses out of state students. Let's, for the sake of ease, call this college Stanford.
Say Sammich is currently living in the dorms as an "out of state student." Freshman year is done and classes are about to be let out for the summer. Can he stay in the dorms if he takes summer classes? Can he stay if he doesn't? Are there summer classes at Stanford?
And while we're on the topic of Sammich, and by default Dean, does anyone know what type of handguns they use? I can't name by sight in most cases and most of the time with these boys we don't get good sights on the handguns. I'm almost sure I saw this exact question in one of the comms before but I think I was at the library at the time so I couldn't bookmark it.

The Super-canon page has a link to the Stanford website, which seems to have relatively detailed info, if you wanted to spend some time poking around.
All that said, I'm definitely interested in the results of this research for the Super-canon site, especially the gun stuff! :D

You know what we need to do (And by "we" I mean "as a fandom.")? Make a list of the things we want to know, post the list in a few dozen places and then just start answering and trying to answer the ones we think we can.

It's a very good post, though, I'm sure I (and the rest of the damn fandom) could brainstorm.
Yaknow, I should start a wishlist somewhere, pimp the perma-link to it around, keep it updated, let people volunteer.
Yes, I think I will. And recruit people for it, too. *eyes you*
Not tonight, though. meso sleepy.

I will pimp that post like it owes me money.
And? You totally don't have to recruit me; I already volunteer.

Dude that's right, cause it's Tuesday night for you already, huh?

As for handguns, pick a random name of a handgun and go with it. Most of the writers do. However, if you wish to get specific (and this is coming from the crack of my ass), various known names for handguns are Glock, Beretta (?) and my favorite, Smith and Wesson.
On another note, when do you online on AIM? I would like you to hold my hand on my Supernatural fic and discuss and giggle and schoolgirl over SPN generally.

Oh yeah, I can easily see Sammich getting afternoon classes specifically so he can go out and do day labor in the mornings for money.

Dude. You totally made me cry right there. I am an insane stickler for details. And a low-grade marksman. So just typing a random gun name makes me hurt in my heart a little. Especially because the choice of gun says a lot about someone, from the type of kick they can take to the trigger they like to how much damage they want to do at any given time.
And then there are just the randm things that haunt some people like the fact that every beretta I have ever fired has jammed on me within six bullets.

At the moment? Never. I don't have AIM cause my brother deleted it and I can't keep my connection online long enough to download and install it in full apparently. I am on MSN however. girly_Goku (at) hotmail.com

Far as I know, during summer session you're likely to get your own room, just because there are far less students on campus.

So if Sammich and his roommate get along then at the end of the year they can fill out forms so they can be roommates again when they come back?

So you can stay on campus during the summer but you may have to move. Do you know if you can stay even if you don't take classes?

And you can stay on campus during the summer, but classes are pretty much required. If Sam didn't take classes, I could see him like -- getting a job in Palo Alto, finding a dumpy apartment, and moving back to campus in the fall.

That's actually kinda perfect as Sam strikes me as the kind of guy who would like the excuse of "I have to take classes" so he doesn't appear as the big Nerd he is.
And thank you so much for the help.

And yeah, I can see Sam getting at least a double-major out of Stanford before he was done, because he's such a freakin' overachiever.

You get randomly assigned a roommate your first year, and each year after that you can choose where and who to live with. Some people stick with the same roommate (I had the same one sophmore and junior year because we were friends and liked living together), but most people tend to move in with their friends (my freshman year roommate was a psycho and a little bit evil, so I was happy not to have to live with her anymore). So yeah, basically they assign you a roommate freshman year and it's up to you after that.
You can't stay in just any of the dorms during the summer, so Sam wouldn't be able to stay in the same room he lived in during the school year. There isn't a lot of it, but there is summer housing, and it doesn't really matter what you're doing there during the summer for you to live in it. One my friends lived in summer housing last summer while she stayed in town to work. Though nearly every college has summer classes, and if Sam was sticking around there I could see him doing that.
So at least at my school, there's housing during the summer but it's very limited so you have to sign up for it quickly. The other option is subletting, which is always possible - there are tons of people who live in off-campus apartments but aren't there during the summer and need people to sublet.
But again, this is the case at my school, might be different at Standford. You may be able to look that up, though - at the very least, the Standford website should have info on summer classes and summer housing.
