Not that I'm in any danger from Strikeout2007 but...

If I do get deleted (Or have to abandon this LJ name for any reason Stalkers and parents and asshole, oh my!) here are other ways to get a hold of me.

Here I am on GJ. I realize there's nothing there right now; I only created it a few minutes ago.

I also have a back-up LJ which has no entries now but should probably be friended anyway in case anything happens. [livejournal.com profile] iheartsmeckles. STFU, I like the name.

Anyone has any idea what happens if you get deleted but still have over a year of paid time left on LJ?

And if you haven't noticed, I'm still here. Still have no idea for how long though, it's liable to go at any minute.

yeah, I talked with someone and pretty much came to the conclusion that since I don't have "incest" or "kiddie porn" in my user interests, I'm probably good. So not too much to worry about. I'm trying to find out the answer to your question, though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm safe too but you never know.

I wanted to know too .. so located it and .. should you become banned : your paid time will cease and you will not be paid back. . it means you loose your money, account, and your paid time.

...That sucks ass. Man, that's just not cool at all.

This is so retarded! But I just want to let ya know-I friended your alternate lj(and I liked the name too ;-D). Let's hope nothing happens!
*Hugs*

[identity profile] clex_monkie89.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
It really, really is. And I noticed you friended me, I'll friend you back as soon as I sign in to that account!

*Hugs you back*

I'd like to think we're in the 21st century but when shit like this happens I think we're still in the dark ages. Retarded lj monkies the lot of them.
Sounds good ;-P Thanks! I just hope they leave your journal alone ;-P
*HUgs*

Wait--what is going on?

:friends your new account:

A bunch of lj comms got kicked off by livejournal including some fannish communities (apparently espcially from the Harry Potter community?) because a watchgroup reported communities that had incest, child-fucking, pedophilia in among their interests.

There's some discussion about whether changing interests from "incest" to "incest in literature" (or more fandom specific terms like Weaslycest or Wincest; or you know, just not having it in your interests) is safer. There is much indignation and internet-lawyer speak. A write up can be found on fandom_wank.

Wow. Thank you. I've read up a bit. Crazy stuff, yo. Guess it's a good thing I was too lazy ever to add any interests to my userprofile. :D

[identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, checked mine, apparently I too never got around it. Seems though that most of the comms I have or had weren't found for now because they used brothercest or some variation.

To me the really odd point is, that even if I can buy that some watchgroup might not know the difference between a fannish comm and a real pedophile comm, shouldn't livejournal know better than that by now?

I dunno, to me it's just obvious that fannish interest runs on very different rules because the attraction is firmly tied up in very fictional people. Who naturally can't be hurt on account of being fictional. If you remove the fictional person the interest is also gone. There's a huge difference in being attracted to Clark who is cute and geeky and an alien and played by a 30 year old actor. Or Sam and Dean on account of them having a specific backstory and them being played by good looking and most definitely not related actors and having a carte blanche attraction to all underage people/siblings/whatever.

I went to that WfI website and apparently they've posted about lj on more than one occasion. The main poster also made it clear that they emailed LJ to inform them of the "immoral" content and was not contented with the initial response. I think it was the repeated emails and posts to their blog that prompted LJ to take such drastic action.

[identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
*tries not to make a long rant about all the things that can be considered "immoral" (as opposed to illegal) starting from Hannibal Lecter to the morality of being attracted to a film star when I'm, oh, gosh, married or in a relationship*

I hereby suggest that in order to join an "Lust about George Clooney" or "Hot for Brad's Abs" comm you have to first proove that you are indeed single to ensure that no immoral lusting will take place.

That website is pretty hardcore. I can't figure out if they are truly ignorant of fandom (as they claim) or that if they have severely black and white notions of sexual deviance. I have a feeling it's both.

I'm happy I'm an under-the-radar-ljer. Not much clean up to do. I just hope my comms pull through.

I'm trying to remember whether they are the same guys that work with Dateline NBC (who I vaguely remember as having issues with livejournal too), but I think these are a different group.

[identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
My fave/most interesting post on the thing (going into the area of watchgroups vs. fandom) is this one.

[identity profile] resounding-echo.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
I actually did read that already. I wonder what "I apologize for replying inappropriately (to your correspondent) on your site. We do not have an LJ, so I am not familiar with the protocols and etiquette." is in reference to. I mean, I not surprised by the thought of her having, err, forceful language but even this surprised me a bit--was any LJ research done before we were attacked?

[identity profile] thelana.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Duuude, stupidity lives, doesn't it? At least I'd like to think that it is just a case of barking up the wrong tree on their part. Sheesh. *headdesk*
